I use a Maxtor external hard drive to back up the internal hard disk from my WindowsXP Home Edition based computer. However, rather than using the included backup software which I found puzzling, I prefer to use EZBack-it-up, a free backup software utility.

There is no support provided and no upgrades planned as the software author has returned to college. However, the program is so easy to learn and use, support isn't necessary.
